Biography of Igor Kushnir: the way to the heights

From early dreams to conquering the world's highest mountains

Ihor Kushnir is a man who has always set himself ambitious goals. Born in Ukraine, he has been interested in both technical sciences and adventures that require courage since childhood. Education and many years of experience in construction became the basis for his professional growth, but the mountains turned out to be his true calling.
His life path is a combination of a builder's precision, a leader's ambition, and a climber's inspiration. By conquering not only professional challenges but also the peaks of Khan Tengri, Kilimanjaro and many others, he proved that nothing is impossible.

Childhood years and education:

Ihor Kushnir (born June 14, 1971 in Chernivtsi) is a Ukrainian entrepreneur, Doctor of Law, known for his contribution to the construction industry and achievements in alpinism.

Education:
1990: Graduated from Kryukiv Mechanical Engineering College.
2002: Received a degree in mechanical engineering from Kremenchuk State Polytechnic University.
In 2004, he graduated from the university’s postgraduate faculty with a degree in Business Economics.
He earned his PhD in Law in 2013.
In 2019, he earned a Doctor of Laws (LL.D.) degree in Administrative Law and Procedure from the Institute of Legislation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

Career in construction:

Career:

He began his professional career in 1988 as an electric welder at the Kremenchuk Housing and Construction Plant.
1993-1994: Worked in commercial structures of Kremenchuk, holding managerial positions.
1994-2008: Deputy Director of the company “MiS”.
2002-2010: Member of the Kremenchuk City Council, focusing on housing and communal issues.
2008-2010: Deputy Director of Zhitloinvest.
2010-2012:Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine for Logistics of the Armed Forces.
2012-2023: Chairman of the Board and President of Kyivmiskbud Holding Company, under his leadership the company became a leader in the construction market of the capital.

Awards and honors:

2011: Awarded the “Firearm” and “Badge of Honor” by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
2012: Awarded the title “Honored Economist of Ukraine”.
2016: Awarded the medal “25 Years of Independence of Ukraine”.
2016-2017: Recognized as one of the best managers in Ukraine.
2021: He was named one of the three best top managers of Ukraine in the Real Estate category by Focus magazine.

Beginning of climbing history:

He made his first serious ascent of Mount Kazbek in the Caucasus in 1987. After that, he began to rapidly develop his climbing skills, regularly climbing various mountain peaks

Peaks of Igor Kushnir:

July 31, 2006: Khan Tengri (7010 m)
This ascent was his first major step into high-altitude mountaineering, requiring exceptional physical fitness and a strong sense of teamwork.

January 11, 2007: Kilimanjaro (5895 m)
The highest peak in Africa, conquered as part of the 7 Summits program.

May 2, 2007: Cho Oyu (8201 m)
The sixth highest peak in the world. This expedition was a test of endurance in harsh conditions.

February 26, 2009: Aconcagua (6962 m)
The highest point in South America. The mountain was climbed due to strong winds and difficult terrain.

July 27, 2018: Lenin Peak (7134 m)
Part of the Snow Leopard program. Special route with difficult weather conditions.

June 25-27, 2021: Kazbek (5033 m)
A symbolic mountain that has become one of the most significant in his mountaineering career.

May 17, 2023: Everest (8846 m)
The highest mountain in the world, it was Igor's dream to climb this peak.

May 18, 2024: Lhotse (8516 m)
The fourth highest peak in the world, the ascent of which took place in severe weather conditions.

2024: Manaslu (8163 m)
The eighth highest peak in the world, the route to which is technically difficult due to avalanche danger.

2025: Annapurna (8091 m)
One of the most challenging eight-thousanders in the world. Ihor Kushnir undertook the ascent together with his wife Oksana.
